ince the announcement of philosophic principles discussed in this publication, Scientology has become the fastest growing religious movement on earth. To date, some ten thousand new adherents step onto the Scientology Bridge every week, while hundreds of new Scientology organizations open doors to meet their needs. Scientology has further become this centurys most broadly inclusive movement, embracing those from every denomination and every faith, and altogether underscoring L. Ron Hubbards pronouncement, wisdom is meant for anyone who wishes to reach for it.Yet what is ultimately most important here is what lies behind the growth of Scientology. Philosophy, we have stated, is the love of wisdom or pursuit of wisdom, and in that respect Scientology stands in a genuinely ancient tradition. But what Scientology offers, what it represents as a route to freedomthis is wholly new. For suddenly, in this otherwise desolate age, here is a truly workable philosophy that is absolutely relevant to every aspect of our lives and all of it follows from L. Ron Hubbards crucial declaration:
We are studying the soul or spirit.
We are studying it as itself.
We are not trying to use this study
to enhance some other study or belief.
